Gordon Grahame had been living in Glasgow when the bulk of this album was written. 'Signing on' in the notorious Gorbals estate and having just become a father to his first son - James.
He wrote most of the tracks on piano and claims that if you were to listen to any of the cassette demos from that time they almost all have a screaming baby in the background.
Despite this rather bleak start two years later he was hooked up with producer Ben Townsend in Brighton and signed to a record deal with SKINT Records.
The track You're Lovely To Me tends to overshadow the rest of the album since its use in a UK advert but it is really tracks like You Stole My Heart Away and My Soul Is On Fire that set the general flavour of this album.
